Professional match play in the golf championship produced some surprises. In the second round, A. Padgham beat E. Whitcombe 6/5, C. Ward beat Havers 3/2, M. Seymour beat R. Whitcombe 3/1. In the third round. Easterbrook beat J. Taylor by one hole, Mitchell beat Davies 2/1, Seymour beat Cotton by one hole. The last eight are Padgham, Thompson, Ward, Weston, Herd, Mitchell, Easterbrook, and Seymour.
