RUNANGA NOTES
(Our Own Correspondent.) Mr John Butler 13 a panent in the Grey River Hospital. Miss Kimmie Heslin is receiving : treatment at the Grey Hospital. The new sanitary arrangement which is to be introduced at Runanga is not meeting with the approval of the whole of .the ratepayers. The Borough Council is being criticised by a few of our citizens. The Plunket Society’s old time concert and dance, held last Friday, was a financial success. There were “come backs’* amongst our local artists, some of whom had not appeared before tho public for a considerable time. The forthcming boxing tournament in aid of Mr Joe Garvey promises to be a huge success. Messrs O’Neill and Harrison have some budding champions in hand and a good night’s - entertainment is expected from these boys. It is hoped that the public will roll up in large numbers and assist i n promoting the sport, and also as--1 sist our genial Joe to restore his normal health. The Liverpool mines, which have been idle since Monday, are resuming operation to-day. Lack of shipping is tlie excuse given. We know 7 different. There are at present forty-three members receiving benefits from the I local Accident Fund. Mrs T. E. Kennedy, who was recently operated on at the Grey River Hospital, is making good recovery. Mr E. Kendrick is a patient at the Grey Hospital, having been operated on for eye trouble, and is making good I progress.
