THE FORGED NOTES CASE. (Pvr Press Association). AUCKLAND, August. 8. 1 Tn the re-trial of the forged notes case, Maurice Goodman. Percy Short, I and Percy McKenzie Short, were found guilty and were remanded for sentence. Harry Torpy, aged 4Q, was found not guilty. NELSON TAXI-DRIVER’S FRAUD. NELSON, August 10. Richard Rawson, taxi-driver, who ; staged' a sham assault and robbery in an endeavour to conceal the theft of I his employer’s money, was sentenced + o three months’ imprisonment Tor theft'. The Magistrate said that it would be vicious, from the point of view of public policy, to grant probation in such a case of chicanery. SIMBA AFFAIR. COURT PROCEEDINGS. (A nr & N.Z. Cable Assn.) Summons Court to-day on charges, under the Customs Act, arising out of the importation of the racehorse Simba.
