WEEK-END MATCHES Marist Beat Blackball Competition matches in all grades were continued yesterday, in fine weather, although the grounds were heavy after the recent rains. In the Bradshaw Cup competition Blackball seniors Were defeated by Marist and Brunner defaulted to Pirates. MARIST I. 16 v. BLACKBALL I. 9. ; Marist and Blackball seniors met at blackball yesterday in a Bradshaw tiup match, the former winning, after hn excellent game, before a large attendance, by 16 points to 9. Play was very even in the first spell, in whic-i each side registered three points. In the second half, however, Marist forced the issue, and hooking the ball consistently, added three more tries, two of which were converted, to Blackball’s two unconverted tries. Tothe end the game developed into a witling tussle. Both sets of backs threw the ball around in good style.
