At Mt. Cook
YESTERDAY’S RESULTS. (Per Press Association). TIMARU, July 27. 1 The Aorangi Ski Club’s annual sports commenced at Ball Hut. Mount Cook region, to-day. The weather was beautifully fine, and splendid perform- ! ances were witnessed in the two ‘ events decided. In the morning the • championship was run over a course of i fourteen miles, from a point on the Tas- ' man Glacier opposite Malte Brun, comi mencing in fan shape .to control flags, ! through which the whole party had to go. After that, they followed a track broken by a guide, who had half an hour's s A art. The championship) was won by Dr. Wood, of the Victoria Ski Club, in one 1 hour six ’ minutes. R. O. Page, of Wellington, was secj ord, he being two seconds behind the | winner. I C. H. Williams, of Christchurch, was I .third in one hour ten minutes. I E .C. Ferrier, of Christchurch, led I for three miles. Then Page went to I the front, and remained there for four I miles. Dr. Wood and R. C. Murie I caught > 4 he leader at the eight mile I peg, and Dr. Wood led for the remainI der of the journey, winning by a few yards. I The three-mile cross-country ladies’ I race resulted:—Miss Sloman (Wellington) 36min, first; Miss Brown (Christchurch) 39min. second; Miss Blundell I (Wellington) 42min,. third.
