Dr. Kidson’s weather report and forecast arc as follows:—General situation: The depression passed to the eastwards during Saturday night, but a secondary has since developed, off the West Coast of the South Island. An anti-cyclone is moving over the Tasman Sea, with its centre to the northwards. Forecast: Winds variable, but southerlies arc setting in generally, strong at first, but soon moderating and later tending westerly. Seas in N.Z. waters: Rough on the West Coast of the North Island, and rising south of East Cape; 1 elsewhere, moderate. Tasman Sea: • Strong, but decreasing, south to west ’ winds, am] rather rough seas in the Eastern Tasman Sea. Weather: Unsettled, dull and misty, with fairly general rain and some heavy falls to-night, especially in the Cook Strait area. Temperatures becoming cold. A temporary improvement is probable soon.
