[ INTERMEDIATE CREDIT BOARD.

iln. response to representations made by Mr J. G 'Brien, M.P., t\o- the effeict jthait a representation by the Dairy ‘Factory Industry be approved to (Westland District Rural Intermediate Credit Board, the Primo Minister has forwarded the following reply:— I Dear Sir. —“I duly received your letter of the 15th instant, wherein you suggested that a . dairy farmer or nominee 'Of the daliry farmers should be (appointed to the Westland District IRuntal lutermediate Credit Board.

; I am informed that the foil number of members allowed under the provisions -of the Rural Intermediate Credit Act, ha 3 appointed to the district board, and these members have [acted satisfactorily since the inception |of the system. The appointment of a dairying representative as suggested would entail the revocation of the appointment of one of the existing members, and it iis not cjomsidered that sudh a drastic ’step is d-esirable. I am sure that ap plications by dairy' farmers will receive full consideration by the mem bers of the district board, and dairy fanners need have no fear that the suacessi of their applications will be jeopardised by thei fact tliat th.ere is no dairy farmer or dairying representative- to\n the board. Thie members arc all gcntleme n of ■wide experience and should be fully coanpet-("nt to deal with applications fdom dairy farmers

If the dairy farmers consider that it would be desirable for their applications to be considered by' dairy farm eis or dairying representatives, they may fbel that the fjojrmation of a co- | operative rural intermediate credit’ 'association in the district would be of benefit, and if thi s is so the District Inttemiediate Credit Supervisor, Grcymoutjli’, will be pleased to supply (full information in regard to the steps jto be taken to 1 form an association and the benefits ho be obtained therefrom Yours Fa ( ithfully, G. W. Forbes, I Prime Minister.
