THURSDAY. APRIL 30TH. The Orpheus Music Club Orchestra, will provide a programme at IYA this! evening. Vocal solos and duets with, orchestral accompaniment will be sung I by Mrs L. E. Lambert and Mr Frank ; Sutherland. Humour will be given by Miss Rhona Speed, and Miss Gwenda Weir, one of Auckland’s leading sop-1 ranos, will be heard in several ballads. The programme will be a very popular one. 1 2YA schedules a studio concert by the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve/ Band (under Mr Harry Baker), with a supporting vocal programme for this i evening. The Band has arranged a | very fine programme, which will in-1 elude all the music that was to be play- j ed at the Wellington Baud Contest. I The majority ;0f the numbers have not: hitherto been heard from 2YA. The i vocalists for the evening will be the popular Lyric Four and Miss Evelyn • Robinson (contralto). Excerpts from two popular opera? “Carmen’’ and “Maritana” will be! featured at 3YA. the vocalists being: the Grand Opera Quartet.
