’ (Our Own Correspondent.) | The annual meeting o f householders was held in the schoolroom on Monday evening. The following are the names of the new committee elected:—Mesdames Berry anj Graham, Messrs P. Hansen, W. Lovett and W. Searle (junr), After the annual meeting the committee met and Mr P. Hansen was re-elected Chairman, and Mr W. Searle (junr.) Secretary Your corespondent attended the I opening of the St James CTTurch at Waiho Gorge on Sunday afternoon. The ceremony was largely attended by visitors from all of the surrounding districts. The ceremony was performed at 2.30 p.m. by the Rt. Rev. Bishop West-Watson, assisted By the Rev J. K. Warren and Rev J. R. Young, the last I named being an ex-Minister of the • Parish. Some 140 people were pra- . sent at the service in the church and ' the collection for the afternoon amounted to £34 odd. The building was | erected at a cost of £1,201) and £lOOO of the sum is already in hand. The remaining £2OO the committee hope to have collected within the next twelve I months. After the service was over, the visitors were entertained by the • ladies of Waiho Gorge at afternoon lea in the Thomson Memorial Hall. Anzac day was at the local cemetery j commemorated on Saturday afternoon, wreaths being placed upon each deceas:ed soldier’s tablet. I n the absence I of the Rev J. K. Warren, Mr S. The Herepo Tennis Club held a most successful ball at the Public Hall here on Friday night, it being large y attended with visitors from Ross, Matainui, Okarito and Waiho Gorge. The music was that of the Ross Orchestra, and was much admired by all present. The floor was in charge of M R. Rich ards of Ross. (
