A sharp, earthquake shock was felt in Greymouth on Saturday about 8.8 p.m. The direction appeared to be from north-west to south-east. A few mild tremors succeeded the first one. Yesterday morning about six o’clock a couple of very light tremors wove felt. The shocks appear to have been pf nearby origin.

At the monthly meeting of the Grey County Council on Friday, Mr A. J. Sloss. Traffic Manager, was appointed certifying officer to the Council for the issue of licenses.
Lieutenant Haakon Quillet, who was yesterday to have descended from Captain McGregor’s aeroplane at Grey* mouth, did not do so. as he had remained in Buller. Up is making a descent at Westport to-day, however, and is leaving Tor Oamaru to-morrow. He will be returning to Greymouth in about two weeks tnre, when he will jump- from the plane.
