RUGBY FOOTBALL
(Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, April 22. j An Australian representative Rugby I team will leave Sydney for New Zealand on August 14When the letter was read to the N.Z. I Rugby Union, the Chairman (Mr Dean) ’ pointed out that, under the agreement I there woulj be a limit of eight matches. 1 There could be one test, and probably matches against Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, Dunedin, and Hawke’s Bay, and a game against a • Maori team w'ould be a good itinerary. ‘ Mr E. McKenzie suggested matches be arranged against North Island teams and South Island teams. Mr T. Fletcher thought that unions • such as Nelson and Buller, which seldom received big matches should be 1 considered. He suggested a cablegram • be sent asking if ten matches could . be agreed upon. j The Chairman: Do we want ten, in l view of* the economic conditions? I don’t think we do. We should not ask - leave for players for New Zealand test i teams more than necessary. i Mr E. Wylie: Australian players | can’t afford to> be away too long. | Messrs Dean, Wylie and A. C. Kitto were appointed a sub-committee to draw up the itinerary. It will be presented to the annual meeting.
