P. AND T. PROTEST
MASTERTON, February 27, I At a meeting of the Wairarapa Sec tion of the P. and T. Employees Assn., i the following resolution was carried:- — ‘‘That this Section emphatically protests against the Government’s proposal to reduce the civil servants salaries by ten per cent. It is considered that tlje rank and file officers and the General Division are at the present time on a bare living wage. It should be remembered that when the cost of living rose over 60 per cent, above the 1914 lev«J the salaries of the P. and T. were increased approximately 30 per cent., as against a 60 per cent rise to employees outside the Department who were covered by Arbitration Awards, the above figures should therefore be taken into consideration at the present, time, further, that if a cut is necessary it Should be made on a graduated
