EVENING SPORTS
AT VICTORIA PARK. GOOD RACING. Last evening at Victoria Park the Grey United Cycling Club held another of their popular evening sports meetings. The weather was perfect, and there was a good attendance of the public. The back-markers in the open events finished a long way behind the winners. There were two running events set down, but as only four sprinters put in an the 100 yards race was deleted from the programme. Results of cycling events: — Boys’ Race, under 18; quarter-mile: —Thompson syds, 1; J. Daniels 15yds, 2; D. Greaney syds, 3. Also started: —Swift JO, Hogarth 15, Duffy scr. A length each way. started: —Thompson 35, H. G. Wilson 15, H. Turtill scr. Won by a length; a wheel • Thompson fourth. No time taken. Boys’ Half-mtile, under 14: —Hogarth 1, Gilooly 2. Brown 3. Eight started: Won by half a length; three lengths. Time 1.17 2-5. Kiely fourth. Roys’ Race, one and a-half miles (under IS): —Thompson 20yds, 1; Duffy scr., 2; Greaney 30yds. 3. Also started:—Hogarth 70. Swift 70, Daniels 70. Won by a half a length; a length. Time 3.49. Open Cycle Race, 2 miles: —Watson 320yds, 1; Greaney 320yds, 2; Doig 380yds’ 3. Also started: —Turtill scr, H. G. Wilson 70. Howson 170, Innes 150. Clarke 320. Won easily. Timo 4.33. Turtill fourth. Running:—7s Yards Handicap:— Gordon 1, Lamont 2, Fong and O’Loughlin, dead heat. 3. Won by two feet; inches. Time 8 2-ssecs.
