Jock Adamson forwarded John Dix up to Hokitika on Saturday to finalise his preparations for the West Coast Circuit. The old horse looks in good health and is carrying a good deal of condition. George Holley has taken him in hand until Seddon Adamson comes over the ranges with Thurnam Lass and Coll. George. Powell has acquired an extra charge to prepare for the Coast meetings. H. C. Newman has sent over Baby A alkyrie to this painstaking mentor. Needless to say, George will have the niare in good order for the meetings. All the local horses are well forward, having plenty of condition and probably most ’of the locals will require a race or two to tune them to racing form. A. Hargreaves is looking after Chancellor Boy and the grey gelding is fairly forward. Paddy Kirwan has Peter Realm and iLerry Peter in hand and both are to race at Hokitika, Peter Realm has a abit of boring, and his trainer is making e\ery endeavour to cure the pacer of this bad habit. ,r y Peter is in good heart, but the old fellow is on a bad mark. With his many recent failures ho is well entitJe <> to a let out. J* Davidson has a large string entered at Hokitika. This trainer secured a good share of the money last year, and with his big team this trip he should he in the money. 1 he loea] race on the Westland Trotting club’s programme did not receive the entries anticipated, and with the recent requests from the owners and breeders association at Greymouth for these races, it is a wonder better entries were not received.
