(Per Press Association.} THE HERMITAGE,. October 23. | At the Conference of the Associated Chambers of Commerce at Pile Herni'tnge, Mt. Cook, to-day, the following- remit was moved by Mr Edwin Salmond (WeD ngto-u) and carried. ; “That this Conference. is of opinion that definite steps should be taken to increase our export trade with the Dutch East Indies, and that the Government be urgeci (1) to send :i missionary, preferably a commercial man .to that territory immediately to gather the necessary information and report fully o n prospects; (2) that pending the establishment of a dir ect set-vice between New Zealand and the Dutch East Indies, and the consequent necessity of shipping our products via Australia, the Government be urged to pay tlho extra' freight and transhipping charges thereby incurred.
