i THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 11. 1 IYA Auckland, 500 watts:— IYA at , 7.40 this evening, Mr N. M. Richmond will give a further talk on his series I of “Problems of Capital and Labour ” Mr. Richmond will be pleased if listeners will communicate with him over any question arising from the subject about which he is talking. A very fine 4 coiv cert programme has been arranged by IYA. Mr. Elton Black, who has been on the professional stage for msny , years both as a humorist and producer i*. directing a party of Auckland artists who will include Miss Alice Benne- ■ tto, already so well known to lYAlisteners. The ‘Eadiolites” are sure to be a welcome addition to lYA’s many novelty combinations. The programme to be submitted is full of variety, containing many humorous items. 2YA Wellington, 500 watts:—There will be a special war-time programme to commemorate the Battle of the Somme. The Band of the Ist Battalion Wellington Regiment will play such old favourites as the marches “To the Somme,” and “Namur,” “Roses of Picardy,” the selection “A good time Coming ’ (which introduces a number of popular war-time songs) and the hymn “Lead Kindly Light,” which will be played in memory of those who will never return. The Lyric Quartet with the able assistance of Mr. . Wili McKeon (an ex Digger) will provide the vocal and spoken portion of the programme. The quartet will sing two groups of war-time choruses and numerous solo and concerted numbers dealing with the late war. 3YA Christchurch, 500 watts:—The Melodious Four will be the vocalists for 3YA’s programme, singing quartets. trios, duets and solos. “Dame Durden’ and “Echo” will be the quartets Farjeon s “Lament” will be sung as a trio. There will be two duets: “A Lake and a Fairy Boat” and “Suit of Russet Brown.” The solos will prove a very enjoyable selection. Recitations will be given by Mr. Harold Shaw, and an instrumental programme will ba provided by the Studio Octet under Mr. Harold Beck.
