The Mawhem Ladies' Hockey toai leaves to-day for Wellington, where will play several matches with team in the Wellington district, the firs of which will be against a Wellingto representative team on Saturday. For some seasons past the 1 Mawher team has held a very creditable n cord, both locally and i n matches ou bide Greymouth, and in journeying t Wellington for further matches, th local girls can confidently be expect led to give a good account of then selves against any opposition ther-t Forming a club in 1924, the- Mawher team .(although no competition wa held locally, journeyed to Westpor where they were successful in matche against Westport A, United! Hig School and Ng’akawau. In 1925 the, were successful in the southern div. sion of the Brooks Cup competition and won the cup in the- ]>l iy off wi'tl Millerton, the winners of the portlier] division. 1926 was the eommeucemen' of the local competitions and Maw iieiias finished that season by winniuj the Robinson Cup and the WhitShield. Ip 1927 the Mawhc-ra. tean finished a successful reason by ad ding the Scaimei- Cup and Crankshav Shield to their collection of trophies and later toured Nelson playing sev oral m,.itches there without defeat.
