World Welter Title CHANGES HANDS. (Received Sept. 7 at 6 p.m?) NEW YORK, September 6. At Cleveland. Tommy Freeman, of Cleveland, gained a decision over Jack Thompson, of Oakland, to win the world’s welterweight championship in a fifteen-round bout. Ringside spectators thought that Tompson had a margin of nine rounds, with his masterly boxing skill, but Referee Haley reached rhe decision on Freeman’s aggressiveness and Thompson's. missing. Thompson floored Freeman in the second round for a count of six.
