COAL CRISIS
BULLER DEMAND FOR STATE SUPPORT Of N.Z. Trade That the position in the coal industry is very serious on the West Coast is now exemplified by the idling of mines on the Buller, Inangahua and Grey Valley fields while the Rewanui State mine had yesterday an idle day. The outlook for tire coming week in the Grey Valley is black, the available orders being few and far between. The crowded attendance last night at a public meeting in Westport on the subject denoted the anxiety created in that district by the situation which has developed. A suggestion is now put forward for a dominion conference of the parties interested in the coal industry. The position from the standpoint of the producers is clearly set forth by the remarks of Mr 11. E. Holland, reported below.
