'fhe highest weekly load factor was 59.7 per cent, and the lowest 53.8 per cent. On Sunday. the 17th inst.. the Station was run non-condeusing for a short time in order to dismantle and examine the Condenser Circulating Pump. Total connected load for month. 108 k.w.; total connected load al last meeting. 4828 k.w.; total 4936 k.w. Reticulation.—Tthe Line Gang have (been engaged for the most part on 11.1,000 volt line extension to ten mile. J The line is finished as far as Bellvue [ail'd this mine is taking supply. Five jpoles at the far end have still to be [erected and'l he remainder of the wire I strung before the line is complete. The usual amount of servicing and maintenance has been carried out. Apart from new lines an accumulation of small extensions to supply new consumers, as well as new mains to provide extra carrying capacity ’ at one or two points on the system, are on the waiting list and will require the formation of an extra line gang temporarily if the work i.s to be overtaken within a reasonable limo. A list of work on hand is appended herewith. Mr Kent moved that power be given to the engineer to extend the Kaiata line to the lower part of Kaiata. I’n reply to a question the Engineer

said that the cost would he about £.l! M .‘ and the return iu revenue would be £24. The Chairman suggested that the people be asked to sign guarantees. Mr Kent: People will not s ‘gn up. The supply must be there to create demand and if the supply is there tl.ex’ will join up. Air Uddstrom: We should take a risk. The Chairman: I’m not in favour of taking a risk. We had guarantees from Rotomanu and Totara Flat. Mr Kent: It would be suicidal to wait for a written guarantee for everything the Board is going to do. The Chairman: The capital cost i.s going on, and we must see that we have definite returns for our expenditure. We have asked other country districts for guarantees. Mr Mulcare: What is Ihe occupation of the residents in that part? Mr Kent: They are farmers mostly. I understand they are prepared to take t; e power. Mr Smeaton: I ■ understand that they arc not. M Kent said that the Board would have to use their judgment. When the cost of the ranges had been reduced, it had been thought by some that the move was a disastrous one. People did not like signing up. but when they got the power they would real se its benefit. By going out to these areas the price would be reduced for every <-oir umer. By the giving of supply the demand would be increased, thus dec easing the cost. which in turn would mean that more consumers would link up. Mr Smeaton: J fail to see why wo should go to Rotomanu and Totara Flat ami ask poor hard-working “cockies” to give a guarantee, and not even canvass in (his part. The principle of the Board should be to treat everyone alike. The Chairnmn moved that tin* people be adv'sed uf tie necessary guarantee, and if it were forthcoming to give the supply. Mr Kent: We arc not wo-king on on business lines. Wr are here for service, and that should apply to everybody. I can see we will be al right. We have proved that the de rnand is t tie reMr Duggan: We cannot compare this little line with that of Rotomanu. The ‘hairman: The principle is there, just the same. Mr Parfitt Seconded Hu- i ha > ••••"•’- motion. On the motion being pul the cast ing vote went to the chairman, who gave his vote in fax our <•!’ the nm 1 ion. M- Kent limn said that there iwi. live members against it. The < hairman: Have \on ju-t sedi it ? Mr Kent: lj suited you not to see it. Air Kent's motion that the line be gone on with was then put ami car CHAIRMAN'S ANNUAL REPORT. J have the honour to submit a brief report on the year’s working for this annual meeting. The ratio of domestic and commercial rev •‘line to power revenue has further *m proved, being in excess by nearly £3009. The .Showroom has fulfilled its function admirably in the display ami .ale of electrical goods, particularly ranges, eleven of which have been sold during the past four weeks. The Trad ing Account after a fair loading of expenses shows a nett profit, of £232 8/9.
