H.M.S. “DIOMEDE” ALTERS ITINERARY. (Per Press Association). GISBORNE, May 11. H.M.S. “Diomede,” which has been here several days, suddenly took her departure this ‘morning. A message ■was sent asking that the warship concert party’s gear, which was used on Friday night, should be "forwarded to Auckland. No reason for the alteration in the vessel’s itinerary was given.
SOUTHLAND WINTER SHOW. (Per P r ess A .ecciation). INVERCARGILL, May 12. Southland A. and P. Association’s Winter Show opened under most favourable circumstances on "Saturday, this being the first occasion on which the opening was held on a SaturdayThe display is attractive, and well arranged, and is considered one of the finest winter features yet held in the. province. The entries, although smaller in some sections, are well maintained. A feature this year is a display by the Department of Agriculture, which is regarded as one of the most comprehensive >and interesting vet displayed by 'the Department in the South Island. The exhibit occupies approximately 20,000 square feet. Although embracing the activities of nil departments, the exhibit is in charge of the Fields Division, under (he supervision of Mr R. B.
