ADDINGTON MARKET YESTERDAY’S PRICES. (Special to Argus.) CHRISTCHURCH, May 1. To-day ’s stock sale at Addington is reviewed by Messrs A. Matson and Co. a s follows: — Fat sheep.—There was a large yarding, comprising consignments of good quality. The market was a shade firmer. Extra prime wethers fold to 38/10, prime wethers 32/- to 35/6, medium 29/6 to 32/-, light 27/- to 29/-; extra prime ewes sold to 33/-, prime 25/6 to 29/6; medium 22/6 to 25/-; light 19/6 to 21/6; old and inefrior from 14/-.
Fat lambs.—There was a small yarding. The quality was mixed. Values iwere fully up to the schedule. Extra prime lambs sold to 34/7, prime 29/6 to 32/6, medium 27/3 to 29/3, light 25/3 to 27/-, unfinished 23/9 to 25/-. Store sheep.—There was a small entry of lambs. The best conditioned sorts sold up to the best of the late prices. The others were irregular. There was a nondescript entry of adult sheep. Competition was fair for the best lines, but the market was in and out for other lots.
Fat cattle. —There was a large yarding. Prices were a shade easier. Few good consignments were forward. Prime heavy steers sold £l6 10/- to £l9, prime £l4 to £l6, medium £ll 10/to £l3 15/-, light £8 to £lO 10/-. Extra prime heifers sold to £l6 12/6, medium £9 10/- to £ll, light £6 to £8 15/-. Extra prime cows sold to £l5 12/6, prime £9 15/- to £l2 10/-, medium £8 to £9; old and inferior £4 5/to £6.
Pigs.—There -was a large entry of pigs, both pork and bacon. The demand wag easier, with a hardening tendency at the closing stages. Light choppers sold from 30/-, heavy to £5 18/6, light bacon 57/6 to £3 10/-, heavy bacon £3 15/- to £4 6/6; average price per lb, 5d to 6Ad. Light pork sold 33/- to 41/-, heavy 45/- to 55/-, the average being 7d to 7}d per lb. There was a medium entry of stores, and a good demand for large sorts. Weaners were se’ling from 5/-, and extra large stores to 42/-. SYDNEY WOOL SALES. (Received May 1, at 9.40 p.m.) SYDNEY, May 1 At the wool sales to-day 11,590 bales were sold. All good, well-pre-pared wools were firm at recent rates but faulty sorts were irregular, and were difficult to quit. Greasy merino made 2£ pence.
