AMUSEMENTS.

OPEBA HOUSE. TO-NIGHT’S SPECTACLE. “ANNIE LAUEIE,” WITH LILLIAN GISH. Thousands of hefty Scots armed With claymores, dirks and bucklers mingle in mighty drama to the bloodtingling echo of bagpipes in the mistenshrouded Highlands, ia the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer super-production, “Annie Laurie,” which comes to the Opera House to-night and again to-morrow night. Lillian Gish carves another niche in the roll of screen fame. The picture is based on the best-beloved of all Scottish ballads, and the inter clan warfare that finally ended in the massacre of Gleneoe. Miss Gish as Annie Laurie, daughter of Sir Eobert Laurie, and Mistress of Maxwelton, has an effective part as the sweetheart of a rival clan warrior, lan MacDonald. The story is of the love affair between these two —her unintentional humiliation of lan and his bitter hatred —then her splendid sacrifices for him. Norman Kerry gives a great performance as MacDonald, while Hobart Bosworth, Creighton Hale, Eusse'l Simpson. Frank Currier and Patricia Avery deserve credit for fine work. STAR CLUB DANCE.
