TRAFFIC PROBLEMS.
THE TRANSPORT COUNCIL. PERSON NEL AN NOUN CED. WELLINGTON, April 28. Tho Minister, for Transport, Hon. W. A. Veitch, announced on Saturday that the following gentlemen have accepted positions on the Transport Advisory Council: Mr R- Masters (Stratford)— Government nominee and Chairman of the Council. Mr H- C. Jones (Auckland)— Representative of the North Island Motor Union. . _ Mr II Halliday (Dunedin)— Representative of the South Island Motor Union. _ Mr G A. Troup (Wellington)—KeIprosentative of the New Zealand Municipal Association. Mr E. Smith (Christchurch)— Representative of the New Zealand Master Carriers’ Federation. Mr H. L. Rogers (Wellington) —Representative of the Wholesale and Re tail Motor Trades of New Zealand. Mr A. Parlane (Wellington)—Rcpresenta’ive of the labour engaged in transport work generally. Mr Wm. Morrison (Maxwell) —Representative of the New Zealand Counties Association. Mr H. J. Knight (Wellington)—Re-' presentative of the Service Car 1 roprletors. Mr L. A. Lonergan (Wellington)— Representative of the Motor Omnibus Proprietors. The work of finalisation of the setting up the Council is now in hand, and it is hoped to call it together at an early date. The Minister expressed himself as being highly satisfied with the Council, which, he Was certain, would bring specialised knowledge to the assistance of the Transport Department and himself. He felt sure I hat it would be of immense value in solving the problems of transport, which would have to be tackled at an early date.
