IN FIVE YEARS!
SOVIET’S PROPOSAL To Industrialise Russia (Australian & N.Z. Cable Assn.) (Received April 26 at 8.40 p m.) MOSCOW April 26. A secret conference is being held at the Kremlin at which the Communist leaders are discussing a five year- plan for the industrialisation of Russia. The press is publishing a summary daily. M. Rykoff and others have painted glowing pictures of how the Soviet Union would not only reach, but surpass the economic level of the capi-; talistie countries. M- Rykoff pointed out that this plan calls for twenty pe v cent of a growth of industrialisatio-j yearly. Such growth is without pre cedent even in the United States, which, during the most intensive periods of its development, increased only by eight pe.r cent, a year. M. Kirjanovski, Head of the State Planning Organisation, outlined projects for railways and canalg to link up the sources of food and fuel with the industrial centres.
