35,000 TON BATTLESHIPS PROPOSED. WASHINGTON, March 20. Authority to construct two great battl<ships of 35,000 tons, will be asked from Congress this year. It is announced by Admiral Hughes Chief of Naval Operations, that these will replace the Wyoming, Florida and Utah, under the provisions of the Washington Treaty, which provides flor scrapping theSi ships :n the end of 1934. The new ships will exceed 21 knots and have the usual deck armout protection against aircraft bombers.
