AMANULLAH’S CRIMES Habibullah’s Indictment (Australian & N.Z. Cable Assn.) (Received April 22 at 8.5 p.m.) SIMLA, April 22. . Habibullah has issued a proclamation denouncing Amanullah as an unbeliever. a heretic, and a defamsr of the Holy Book of Ulenm, who, Jas says, procured the assassination of his own father and of several other prominent people. Habibullah adds that Amanullah, instigated by his athiestic father-in-law, Mahmud Tarzi, introduced unbelievers, and also the prohibition of indirect evidence in trials.
The proclamation cites twenty-six heretical acts by Amanullah, who is accused of wasting millions of rupees on his recent European tour.
Habibullah attacks the abolition of the Purdah system, and invites the populace to inspect photographs of Sirivya. “Driving naked in a motor car.” He charges Amanullah with the shaving of the moustache, against the Koranic injunction, making him look like a butterfly.
Amanullah has issued a brief counter proclamation, asking whether the Afghans will consent to a menial water carrier’s son ruling them.
