One of the boldest daylight holdups in the memory of the Police Department occurred to-day, when five bandits armed with revolvers <and sawed off shot) guns intercepted a taxi cab and peppered it with shot, shooting a policeman through the head and the pay roll guard less iyAfter the shooting the bandits escaped in an automobile with 383.392 dollars, constituting the payroll of the Bell Telephone Company, near whose offices, down town in New York City, the robbery occurred.
