(Our Own Correspondent.) The many friends of Mr Charles Harrison deeply regret his death which took place at Greymouth on Monday Morning. Deceased had been employed herd* for a number of years, and had been in ill-health for some time. To his relatives the sympathy of his Waiuta friends is extended. Mrs Sutherland, who has been spending a holiday here as the guest of Mrs Cole, «has returned to Wellington. A packed house was present on Saturday evening at the pictures, when Sam Steam and Sadie Pepper appeared in conjunction with the pictures. These two clever artists were given a great reception, and residents are looking forward to a return visit from them, in about two months’ time. Waiuta readers of the “Argus” arc reminded of the basket ball to be held in the Hall on Saturday evening, the proceeds of which are to go to *he Public <Tennis Club. The committee are making elaborate arrangements end an enjoyable evening is assured. A good number were present at the Recreation Ground on Sunday last, when the members of the Waiuta League Club indulged in a practice game. Considering that it was ihe first game of the season, some good form was dsplayed. The following will represent the local club in the senior fixture with Reefton at Reefton on Sunday, in the opening game for the Flannigan Cup:— A. Purton, T. Hunter, J. Burns, R. Curnow, S. McCarthy. A Smith, E. Woolhouse, J. Read, S. P. Williams, J. Haward, J. Holman. P. McMahon, and J. Keenan. Emergencies:— (Forward) E. F. Byrne; (back) C. Lewis. Cars leave Waiuta at 12.30 sharp. A heavy thunderstorm was exper ienced here on Tuesday evening, and wintry weather conditions are prevailing. A meeting is being held on Thursday evening in O’Donnell’s Sample Rooms for the purpose of forming a ladies’ Hockey Club. All those interested in hockey are requested to attend.
