ALLEGED BRIBERY

JURY STOP CASE. LATE MR BRUNTNELL’S "PIPES” SYDNEY, April 17. The tri d has concluded of Fitzgibbons on a charge of attempting to bribe the late Chief Secretary, Hon. Mr Bruntnell. The jury stopped the case. They brought in a verdict that Mr Fitzgibbons was not guilty. Mr Fitzgibbons, was discharged. Mr Fitzgibbons’ defence was that the money was a pure gift, intended for the Nationalist Party funds, and not for Mr Bruntnell. (Note. —The money was left on the table of the Chief Secretary. Mr Bruntnell (who died recently), by a Member of Parliament, on behalf of Mr Fitzgibbons, who is a carrier in a Sydney suburb.
