AMUSEMENTS.

OPERA HOUSE. MATINEE TO-DAY. LLOYD HUGHES AND MARY ASTOR IN “SAILORS’ WIVES.” At the Opera House to-day (Wednesday) at th 3 natine»j the star attraction to be shown will be “Sailors’ .Wives,” featuiUg Lloyd Hughes and Mary Astor. TONIGHT. DOUBLE STAR. “SAILORS* WIVES”. What would you do if you were facing the inevitable tragedy of blind uess in a short space of time. Upon this interesting premise is built a motion picture story of intense dramatic quality in ‘Sailors’ Wives,’ , First National’s picturization of the Warner Fabian novel which comes tc the Opera House to-night. Mary Astor and Lloyd Hughes are featured in the picture, with Earle Foxe, Olive Tell, Burr Mclntosh. Ruth Dwyer, Gayne Whitman and others in support. “DOOMSDAY.” Luxury without love or love with out luxury I That is the alternative countless women have had to face and will always be forced to meet. Florence Vidor makes her choice in “Doomsday”, the Paramount picture, comijng to the Opera House Theatre this evening, only to find that she has been cheated.

The picture is adapted from Warwick Deeping’s famous novel by the same name, and is a soul stirring portrayal of a wonderful problem love story. THURSDAY ONLY. “THE MAGIC FLAME.” To announce, as he did yesterday that Ronald Colman and Vilma Banky are coining to the Opera House is enough recommendation for any motion picture, in the opinion of Manager Beban, who will introduce the couple’s latest production “The Magic Flame,” to-morrow night (Thursday). “Mr Colman and Miss Banky have in the past year made but two motion pictures, said Mr Beban, “and in those two pictures ‘The Night of Love,’ and ‘The Winning of Barbara Worth,’ they hav3 firmly established their reputations as the greatest motion picture lovers. A great New York newspaper, ‘The Daily News,’ recently hold a popularity jco'nflest ajnd, elected Vilma Banky the most popular motion picure actress. Ronald Colman was chosen one of the three most popular male stars. I suppose on the rare occasions when I am able to present one of their pictures, I could fill my theatre at every performance by merely announcing th e names of these wo stars. But on ‘The Magic Flame’ T want to do more than that. I save a print of the picture last Tuesday and I can honestly say that the Opera House is offering more than two stars —w e are offering two great artists, and one of, if not the, best motion pictures of th]year.”
