BULLER ELECTORATE.
MINISTERIAL REPLIES WESTPORT, Marell 4. Mr H. E. Hol and, M.P ~ has received the following Ministerial replies in connection with matters affecting the Buller electorate:— PAYMENT OF WORKMEN. From the Minister of Public Works: “In continuance of my letter of tho 15th ultimo, I have to state that I have carefully considered the repreicntations which you made on behalf of the men employed on Main Highways in your electorate for fortnightly pays, but regret that I am unable to see my way at present to depart from the old-established system oi mon thy pays on public works.” SECTIONS AT RAPAHOE. From the Afinister of Lands: “I beg to refer io the interview which members of the Runanga Borough Council hind with my colleague, the Hon. Minister cf Mines, at Runanga on the 30th ultimo, when representations were made in connection with the offering of building sections in the town of Rapahoe. I have had tins ease looked into, and find tha* the township was laid out by my Department on an area which had been set aside as a township (not scenic) reserve many years ago. The subdivision was intended to provide sites for the erection of either seaside or weekend cottages or permanent homes. With regard to the statement that shacks are being rt rected, 1 have to state that it appears difficult to see that any action is called fo” on the part of my Deparrwrm. far 3 14 the buildings are concerned, the ma-tet JS one for the local authority, ani it understood some time ago that the County Council proposed to pass bylaws enabling ‘t to deal with 1\ doing a matters in all parts of the eeunry.
