SMALL BOOKMAKER.
~ Fined £l5 AUCKLAND, March 2. An hour or two after his arrest this morning on a charge of bookmaking, Robert Francis Singe, wharf labourer, appeared ri the Police Court before Mr McKean, S.M., and pleaded guilty. The police said Singe was only in business in a' very small w r ay, and had £l4 Ils 4d on him when arrested. He was a married man with two children, and had been obliging clients for the last three' months. He was not making a living out of it, had promised to give it up. Mr McKean: Yes, I expect he has, when he finds it expensive. A fine -of £l5 was imposed.
