AMUSEMENTS.

BAND CONCERT. The Alunicipal Band will give an- | other popular concert on Monday at I the Town Hall. The opening number | is 4 ‘Nearer Aly God to Thee,” followed by the march * 1 Shumadinska, ” a pretty item with >a lovely melody running through it. It is in these two* contest sol- stions wherein the Band will shine, and the public from these items will realise that being an A Grade Band .is no sinecure, especially when they have to play such selections as 4 ‘Lorenzo” and “Tho Moorish Suite,” both classics, and the tests for the great Crystal Palace contest in England last year, which contest decides the championship of Great Britain. The quartette, trombone trio and duet parties will play their respective contest items, all being delightful ones. The other artists w*ll be of the same high standard as the Hand. Miss Anne Duff,; of Hokitika, who has been in demand in ‘various parts of New Zealand, will render a roio. Airs Temple, late of Melbourne, who created a favourable impression on her first appearance in Greymouth, will also assist; also Air J. Hadland, who is always welcomed. Air J. Duffy, v.’ho quite surprised hi s audience at the last Band concert, will again assist. Air T. G. Wilton, of Kpmara. a humourist of outstanding ability, will render a comic song. On Saturday afternoon the ladies’ committee, who are assisting the Band, will open a shop where all classes of vegetables, cookery, sweets, etc., will be purchasable; also a jumble stalk The shop is in Mackay’s Sample j Rooms, Afackay Street. During the | c veiling the Band will play music > around the town. A chocolate alley |by the Town Hall will be in vogue. Donations of materials will be thankfully received.
