VANCOUVER MURDER.
Wealthy Youth. AND GIRL ARTIST. VANCOUVER. February 11. Pearl Baghole, a beautiful art teacher, aged 20, was found strangled to death early on Monday morning, after a night of' prayer with her suitor, Dennis Barclay, aged 22, a scion of a wealthy English family, in his room. Barclay, when charged with murder, was incoherent, and babbled: “I don’t know what happened, but I know that ‘he Lord loved Pearl. The Lord loved little Pearl. I had a vision of the Lord, and the Lord spoke to me, and told me he loved her. The Lord said that Pearl was to be the mother of Christ, and she had conceived, and would bear Christ.”
QUEENSLAND TRAGEDY.
BRISBANE, February 12. Thomas Chrystal was found not guilty of wilful murder of his son-in-law, Richard Devers, at Woody Point. Devers, aged 33, who had told his friends that he expected trouble when he got back, was shot dead at the gate of his father-in-law’s house, Woody Point. Devers’ wife had gone to her father’s house, and Devers followed. During an argument, a gun was produced, It is alleged that both men struggled for possession. An explosion followed, and Devers fell to the ground shot in the neck.
Chrystal stated Devers threatened to blow up witness and his house.
