OPERA HOUSE TO-NIGHT. REGINALD DENNY IN “ON YOUR TOES." “The Leather Pushers" have virtually come to life again in the Regi nald Denny’s now feature comedy “ On Your Td \s," which will be shown at the Opera House to-night. This is asserted to be one of the finee.st of all the Denny films by those who have been privileged to see previews of it. Denny plays the role of Elliott Beresford, son of the famous Young Evans, of “Leather Pushers" fame, while Hayden Stevenson,, who made such a hit as the prize fight manager in the early two-reel comedies plays, a similar role in “On Your Toes." Barbara Worth enacts the feminine lead, with Frank Hagney, Mary Carr, Gertrude Howard and George West playing the other featured roles. The pic'ure was directed by Fred Newmeyer, who has directed several of the recent Denny starring vehicles. “On Your Toes" is a picture for lovers of comedy and lovers of the prize ring, told in a whole some humorous vein. BAND’S SOLO CONCERT. This (Tuesday) evening the above concert will take place at the Town Hall, when a well diversified programme will be pKbsented. The Band is fortunate in having such a tine body of soloists in its ranks, and the entertainment will be of an educative nature, that will benefit all who hear it. In H. F. Vincent, the Band hag the champion B flat cornet player of the South Island; while A. Smith, soprano cornet player, is considered by eminent judges one of the very best soprano cornets in Australasia. L. Halls, a eupho. player, has won high honours in the Homeland and in New Zealand. J. Henderson was second in the championship of New Zealand at last Christchurch contest. E. Barton, another accomplished soloist, and Leo Carruthers, one of the most promising trombone soloists in New Zealand. W. Bell is an accomplished trombone player, and the winner of competitions in the Old Country. Other soloists playing are A. and R. McMaster, R. Rudhall, W. Malpass, R. Hall, and A. Heisenbuttle. Patrons will see that a most interesting entertainment will take place. Miss B. Adkins will be accompaniste for the soloists.
