West Coast Centre Tournament. RESULTS OF FIRST DAY’S RINKS Under favourable weather conditions, the annual tournament of the West Coast Centre of the New Zealand Bowling Association opened yesterday on the Hokitika and Greymouth Clubs’ greens. Altogether, fifteen clubs are represented at the tournament, and include Westport, Greymouth. Runanga, Hokitika. Lyttelton. Matai, Island Bay, Edgeware, Beckenham, Canterbury, Linwood. Kaiapoi, Nelson, Sydenham and Heathcote. Mr T. Brebner, President of the Greymouth Club, welcomed the visiting bowlers to that green yesterday morning, e pecially those who had not previously taken part in a West Coast tournament. He felt sure that an enjoyable time would be spent by all. Each year saw West Coast clubs coming into greater prominence. On behalf of his club, Mr Brebner then handed the green over to th e President of the Centre. Mr J. Ring, who had done a great deal for bowling clubs. Mr J. Ring thanked Mr Brebner for his reference to the Centre, and extended a hearty welcome to the visitors. He stated that owing to the very large number of entries receiv-, rd. the Centre had found it necessaryl to approach the Greymouth Club for the loan of its green, which was immediately placed at the Centre’s disposal. Given fine weather, he felt that everyone could look forward to an enjoyable outing. Mr F. H. Kilgour had kindly consented to act as umpire for him, owing to his health, and h c handed th e green over to him (Cheers.) A Ladies’ Committee. with Mrs Brebner as chief, supplied morning and afternoon tea. and their efforts were greatly appreciated by all.
