NEW PORTFOLIO.

For Mr Veitch. TRANSPORT MINISTRY. WELLINGTON, February 11. The Hon W. A. Veitch has been appointed to the new portfolio, that of the Ministry of Transport. “I am very much interested in the work which I will have to do ? and I hope to overcome some of the difficulties that have arisen in connection with motor transport -generally,” said Mr Veitch. “Until I have settled down and appointed my staff, I cannot make any definite statement as to the lines on which I will work. Many difficult problems are arising, owing to conflicting interests, but I am quite sure that, with the application of a little common sense and mutual forbearance, we can do much to improve the motor transport services in the general interests of all the people.”
