Many arrests have been made by the military and police. The Legislative Assembly at Delhi gave a second reading of the Public Safety Bill, which was carried by sixty-one votes to fifty. The final vole was undoubtedly influenced by the tragic happenings at Bombay. Clear proof of Communist inspiration in the Colombo riots was given in the Legislature to-day, when the Colonial Secretary made a statement that Labour supporters took no hand in the disturbances, and the polidfired in self defence. He paid a tribute to ths admirable manner in which the police behaved throughout.
