WOMAN STRUCK DOWN
By Sydney Ruffian ATTEMPT TO RAID PAWNSHOP. SYDNEY, December 14. Mrs Kopit. who conducts a pawnshop in George Street, in the city, had a sensational experience with a ruffian just after she opened her shop to-day. The man asked a question about some 7ocks. Mrs Kopit turned to serve him, when she was felled with an iron bar, which was wrapped in brown paper. The man attempted to raid the shelves, but Mrs Kopit screamed, and her sister arrived from upstairs, just in time to see the assailant disappearing through the door. Mrs Kopit was sent to the hospital, suffering with cerebral concussion. The police state that the crime has a remarkable resemblance to the Falrey shooting case at Marrickville on June 30th.
