Leased to Communications Company. PERTINENT QUESTIONS IN COMMONS. LONDON, December 5. In thc Commons, a crop of seven Labourite questions were directed at the Postmaster-General, concerning the terms of leasing cables and beam stations, and whether safeguards were taken to prevent the beam being subordinated to thc cable interests. The Postmaster-General indicated that at present he was unable to state the provisions of the contract. He reiterated the promise to lay them on tho table. If the terms were disapproved they could take the ordinary course of a vote of censure. Mr Wedgwood Benn: Inasmuch a-> the contracts provide for payment of grants for Imperial beam telephony, will you not lay the papers on the table in accordance with the standing orders?
The Postmaster-General: The fact is that no grants will be paid.
