PRIMATE INSTALLED. Low Church Objections Ruled Out. * (Australian & N.Z. Cable Assn). LONDON, December 1. 'Che Court of {Seven Bishops has confirmed the appointment oft’ Dr Cosmo Gordon Lang as the new Primate in succession to Dr Randall Davidson. The final ceremony was 14 Id in Dick Whrttfngton’s Church, Bow Church. Cheapside. The court was presided over by the Bishop of Lttfidon. in thpresence of the Lord Mayor, and alderman. Dr Lang took tfie oath of allegiance.

The Court considered objection from the Protestant Alliance and sw vcnl clergy, and frujni Mr J. Kcnsit.

Most of the objections complain d that Dr. Lang tolerated Romish practices, and approved of the use of th 1928 Prayer Bock, despite its parliamentary rejection. Another said that Dr. Bang was unsympathetic towards the principles of th Reformsti’on, and encouraged mediaeval usage” and doctrines.

When the objections weir h< ard Dr. Ingram announced that the Court would proceed with the confirmation as no legitimate objection.- wen en tered.

OBJECTIONS ONLY PERSONAL POLICE CHECK KENIT. (Received Di member 1, at 11 p.m.) LONDON, December 1. The Primates Court held that the objections were irrelevant, as they only qii stioned Dr. C. G. Lang’s fitness for office. Dr. Lang took the oath of allegiance to the King kneeling. He then stood up, and pronounced the declaration against Simony and his assent to the Thirty-Nine Articles, the Book of Common Prayer and the Church ’s doctrines. He then signed them, using his official title ‘‘Cosmo, Canluar, ” for the first time.

Thereafter Dr. Ingram, Bishop of London, formally inaugurated the primate by announcing that the Court had confirmed his election. lie said Archbishop Lang became St Angus tine’s ninety-seventh successor.

The Primate held up the Canterbury Cross in his left hand, faced the cun gregation, and pronounced his bios sing. Mr Kcnsit, one of the objectors, after the cercmojny, disfribubd “No Popery’’ pamphlets in the street, but in view of the annoyance thereby given to the recipients, the poll’d • »ntervefi?d.
