Mr Marsh, recently appointed Chief Goods Clerk at the Greymouth Railway, in succession to Mr C. Williams, who has been transfererd to Melton, arrived here last Saturday evening.

Enquiry made at the Greymouth Hospital last night elicited the information that the condition of little Mis« Chanfley wa§*still serious. Messrs IT. E. Holland, M.P., and Ja«. Lanini, of Arnold Siding mill, is at present a patient at the Grey River Hospital, having cut his foot with an axe in the course of his employment. land. had been sixty years in New Zealand, and was 86 years of age. He had resided for many years in the Kumara district, and had not been long an inmate of the Hospital. The funeral takes place at Hokitika this afternoon. Mr Paul Fogarty, eldest sou of Mr and Mrs M. J. Fogarty, of Greymouth, passed in all subjects jn his fourth examination in medicine recently at Otago University, and now w(’l com plete his training by joining one of the larger hospitals for a term of 12 months. The marriage takes place to-day at Wellington of Miss E. G. Moldrum, daughter of Mr W, Meldrum. S.M., of Greymouth, to Mr F. E. Coote. of the Head Office Inspectorial Staff of the Bank of New Zealand, and formerly manager of the Bank’s branch at Greymouth. Mr W. Meldrum, S.M., left on Saturday to be present at the ceremony. A cable from San Francisco states that Captain W. Bd’L who has been associated with the Matson Coy for the past several years, has replaced Captain Drummond, who has resigned as master of the Pacific liner “Sonoma.” and the vessel sailed for Australia on Friday with a full passenger list and a large Christma* mail.
