ATTEMPTED ESCAPE.
PRISONERS CAPTURED AFTBK EXCITING CHASE. MELBOURNE, November 29. Four shots were fired at a prisoner, J. ‘Brailey, when attempting to escape from Pejntridge Gaol. He was capiur ,u after an exciting chase. The prisoner cut through the bars or a window with a hack saw, which was secreted in the cell. Warders heard the irdfse, and an alarm was raised. Anotlv r Leonard Cowley, tried to climb .a wall, and was nearing the top when he fell. He broke a bone In a foot.
