A quantity of material from over -cas for the rebuilding of Waikukupa •'•ridge is at long last coming to hand, and will be at once dispatched >o the scene of erection. It is hoped nil dispatch will be used in the re- • uilding of the bridge, so that it will be available for traffic during the touiist season now opening. After the tolls used at the ninety-five polling booths have been checked, the ballot papers are being counted, and finally the absentee, postal and declaration votes are to be counted. Mr R. Cox. Returning Officer, is directing the work, which will take a few days yet to complete.

A motor cycle accident’ occurred on Sunday evening on the Kanieri Road. | Two young men, Alex King and Robert Palmer, coming home Kokatahi on a motor cycle, noticed a man ahead on a bicycle b<*’’»o harassed by a dog. They slowed down to pass, but the dogthen attacked them, and coming into collision with the motor cycle, brought it down. Both the young men received, injuries which necessitated a visit to the surgeon, and they will be off work for a few day-* The cycle was not much damaged, but the dog was killed
