(From Our Own Correspondent.) HOKITIKA, November 13. A very pleasant day has to-day been experienced here,, which makes one I think that summer has come at last. The Zin gar a has 'arrived to-day about noon, and when her inward cargo is unloadtd. reloading operations will commence, and will continue all night, with the hope of dispatching the ship at 12 o’clock to-morrow for Wellington w.th timber. To-day a demonstration of motor tractors took place for the benefit of the County Council in Hampden Street and in the outskirts of the town. Two machine; wire operating, both doing excellent work hauling roa.'. graders. The capabilities of the Coast for cattle-raising were further demonstrated at yesterday’s Arahura sale, when two Hereford bullocks, bred and fattened by Mr W. F. Diedrich on his Koiterangi station, three year olds, made the excellent price of £l9 7s 6d. They W'-ro easily th e best quality oub looks yarded for many a long day, and were purchased by Messrs Johnson and Wool house. The following pupils passed their musical examination in practical work under the supervision of Mr Russell E. Chester, th e Associated Board of Music. Examiner: —Miss M. Davies, teacher. At the School Committee, meeting last evening there was a letter from the Health Department stating that, owing t 0 the resignation of Mr IJouhy, Dental Officer, and the difficulty of providing a substitute, it would probably be March next before another officer was appointed. The Chairman stated the Health Officer at Greymouth had taken an inventory of the contents of the clinic. It was resolved to ask that the vacancy in the dental clinic be filled earlier than stated.
