REEFTON NOTES.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) REEFTON, Nov. 5. Mr Jas. Spillane left by this morning’s express to attend the Cup meeting. Mr J. Feilding was a passenger to Christchurch this morning to attend the Cup meeting. The death is reported of Air Ron Pearce at Invercargill on Thursday evening at the age of 32 years. The deceased was for some time ou the Reefton loco staff, and leaves a widow (nee Miss C. Hyndman) and one son and one daughter.. Air F. McLaughlin leaves by to-mor-row morning’s train for Christchurch. Air and Mrs Capt. Pond, of Westport, are visiting Reefton as the guests of Air Jas. Murdock, Railway Station. A full dress rehearsal of the operetta “The Rose of Joy” took place on Wednesday evening last, those present thoroughly enjoying the performance. The operetta is a story of the search for the “Rose of Joy.’’ The solos were well rendered, the dances were graceful and pretty, and the dresses worn were elegant. The concert will be held to-morrow night (Tuesday), Nov. 6th, at the Princess Theatre. Alessrs J. Cooper and C. Johnstone, who have recently been working in Dunedin, returned t G Reefton yesterday. Airs Clark, Oamaru, arrived by Saturday’s express on. a visit '-Ub her daughter. Mrs II Spencer. Mr and Airs J. Dick are on a holiday visit to Christchurch. Air D. Woods returned from Christchurch to Beefton on Saturday by the express. The Inangahua Silver Band rendered a programme at the Reefton Public Hospital on Sunday afternoon. The Band’s selections were very much appreciated. Incidentally the Band a rendition of the selections shows a very decided improvement. Mres Farrell, who has been visiting Christchurch for health reasons, returned to Reefton on Saturday.
