His return to Parliament would be well deserved. McCORMACK. Premier of Queensland. As mentioned in a recent issue. Mr O’Brien, when in Queensland, was as -ociated with Mr McCormack, as well a; with Mr Theodore (Member of ’he Australian Federal Parliament, and formerly Premier of Queensland) in Hie Labour Movement at the Chillagoe mining field, and they were united in more than one effort for the betterment of the workers’ conditions on that field, as well as in building up he Labour Party, which has in Queensland had such a splendid record of government for more than a decade past, no less in the development of settlement and communications than in the passing of legislation for the benefit of the wage-earners. Thc Queen-land Government has been able to provide for a greater volume of immigration in recen' years than any other State in Australasia, and the success of its ]»olicy has had the effect of attracting thousands of work ers unable in any other Australian State to secure employment. Mr McCormack enjoys ‘he confidence of all classes in Queensland, and the interest which h e di-plays in tho candidature of his old comrade.
