FIRE AT SHANNON. ■ LEVIN, August 27. . Fire destroyed -a five-roomed residence of W. Hannam. at Shannon, early on Sunday morning. The occupants had a very narrow escape. A sqn, Cocil Hannam, was awaken.d by smoko and driven back when he opened his bedroom door by the inrush of flames. He got out through a window in his night attire. In endeavouring to arouse iris parents in .the front o. th • house, lie severely gashed a hand on Hie broken window. Mr and Mrs Ilarmam also had to escape by the window. Nothing was saved. Fire was p evented from spreading to the adjoining houses with difficu ty.
