A CHANGE NEEDED. May Go Beyond Vatican. LONDON. August 25. “The Times’s” Rome correspondent, stat s: The Pope’s health .is seriously affected by the exceptional heat of th£ 1928 summer. Vatican doctors declare that another summer in his present, environment may seriously injure him. The Pope recently declared: “I no longer even walk in the Gardens, because the tropical atmosphere takes my br.-ath away.” The authorities are discussing the necessity of a change of the Pope’s summer, residence, as the. aVtican Gardens are nat sufficiently ventilat'd, and are low-lying, and very damp at ni’dit. They are of the opinion that the Pope could occupy a villa outside the Vatican by constituting the visit a private one, thereby not alt'ring the Holy See’s historical attitude as to extra-territoriality (in relation to the temporal power of the Papacy). RETORTED DECISION. TO SPEND SUMMER NEAR LAKE. LONDON, August 25. Advices from Rome state that io’1 owing on reports cabled on August 22nd., the “Impero” states that His Holiness the Pope has decided, alter consultation with, the College o Cardinals to go privately neXr summer to the Papal Villa at Castle Gandolto. on Lake Albano.
